Alicia has owned and operated Paradise Gymnastics for 11 years now! She resides in Santa Maria with her youngest daughter Tianna 15, while her son Kevin 19 attends UCSB and her oldest, Talia 23, resides in LA pursuing a stunt career. She is a very proud mom of three, and they have been her inspiration to run this gym. She started as a gymnast at the age of 12, when she came to America from Cuba. She joined the Mt Vernon Turners, with only the knowledge of a cartwheel and no English at all, but worked hard and competed in the sport till the age of 22, proving that you are never too old to start or to old to stay in it. She attended school in NY and graduated from with a BS in business administration. In her years as a gymnast, she took many top places, competed all-around but her favorite event was Beam, during her HS career she became the teams MVP for 3 years, and was the State Vault Champion her senior year, finished 3rd in the state on , both junior and senior years. Besides her personal accomplishments in the sport she has also coached many gymnasts to Sectionals, State and National meets. Through her years of coaching she has coached girls from age 2 to 19, from mommy and me classes to level 9 and has loved every minute of their growth, both as young ladies and accomplished gymnasts. Over her 30+ years of coaching, she has loved every minute along the way, and hopes to coach for at least 20 more. Alicia is a USAG member, safety certified, kinder accredited, and was a judge for 3 years, which gives her the additional knowledge to know what they look for in competitions, and trains accordingly. She believes that gymnastics is the basis to many sports, that it is fun, while it teaches discipline, strength and flexibility, as well as body and mind awareness. She coaches per progression guidelines, and safety is her #1 priority, She attends Region 1 training every year, because she believes that there is always more to learn in this exciting sport!
